The Holiday Beauty Edit

Makeup, oh makeup. You pull at my heartstrings every time I walk into Sephora. I LOVE the holidays because there are so many stunning seasonal releases, and so much sparkle! I’ve rounded up a few of my Holiday favorites below for you. In all honesty, I have purchased different makeup products intending to review them, and haven’t liked them, or thought they were not worth the review. All items I review are those that I personally think are worth the investment, either because I have tried them, or believe in the reliability of the brand.

FAVORITE HOLIDAY BEAUTY

ColourPop, All I See is Magic Palette, $20

ColourPop, Ultra Matte Lip (Holiday), $6

ColourPop, Super Shock Shadow, Ritz, Hiney, $5 each (steal!)

Yes, trust me when I say, you NEED these new arrivals. ColourPop has quickly become one of my favorite beauty brands, mainly because of the high quality, amazing pigmentation, and inexpensive prices. I can whole-heartedly say that I have never tried a ColourPop product that I didn’t like. The shades in this holiday palette are gorgeous, and easy to use to create a rose gold eyeshadow look (which I will be posting on Instagram shortly)! The Ultra Matte Lippie shades are perfect, and the matte finish still leaves your lips feeling hydrated and smooth. I recently bought the shades Souflee, Lil Plump, Imagine, Star Crossed, Believe Me, and Snowfleek. I think the most flattering shade (on most people) is Soufflé, a vibrant sangria shade, and the least flattering would be Lil Plump (would not recommend buying).

Urban Decay Heavy Metals Metallic Eyeshadow Palette, $55, c/o Alison Brod Marketing + Communications

Urban Decay Heavy Metal Glitter Liner, Glam Rock & Midnight Cowboy, c/o Alison Brod Marketing + Communications, $20 each

YES to ALL the glitter *praise hands*. Urban Decay consistently delivers top-notch palettes (hellloooo, the Naked palettes are FAB) and eyeliners. I swear by the Perversion liquid liner and at one time in my life, I only wore Half Baked eyeshadow (yes, literally every day #tbt). I’m so excited to switch out my black eyeliner for silver glitter, and create a glam holiday/New Year’s Eve party look.

Hourglass Cosmetics Confession Refillable Lipstick Set, c/o Hourglass Cosmetics, $54

Honestly, this is so worth it, because it’s essentially three high-end lipsticks for less than $20 each. If you’ve never tried Hourglass Cosmetics, try the Holiday 2017 Limited Edition Refillable Lipstick Set, and you won’t be disappointed. This set is the Bazaar Beauty Awards 2017 winner of “Most Pigmented Lipstick”.

Velour Lashes, Luminous Lash Collection, $28

More glitter! How fun are these lashes?! Built in glitter makes it 10x easier, too, if you don’t want to try and master the liquid liner above. I think the Sapphire Cherish Lash would be perfect for a New Year’s Eve party!

Kylie Cosmetics Naughty & Nice Kyshadow Palettes, $44 each

Ugh these literally sold out 30 mins after being released & I was late to the game… so not like me (I’m one of those weirdos who waits for the exact time of release). I’m just a big Kylie fan, what can I say… *no shame*. Anyway, they’re finally restocked and I’m considering grabbing the Naughty palette – I love the shades Mischief and Snowflake. Also, Kylie always does an amazing job with her packaging, so pretty every time.

NOT WORTH THE INVESTMENT

Bobbi Brown Nude Drama Palette, $59

My love for Bobbi Brown products started during my time working at The Estee Lauder Companies when I was able to use my discount (a little too frequently…). I had extremely high hopes for this palette, and think it looks beautiful online. Unfortunately, while the shades are beautiful, I found that it has extremely low pigmentation. I found that both the matte and shimmer shades were difficult to apply (and swatch), and my brushes wouldn’t grab the product as I had intended. For $59, I would not purchase this palette.

Pat McGrath Mothership Eyeshadow Palettes, $125

Honestly, I haven’t tried these, and while online they seem to have stunning reviews (there are three eyeshadow palettes), I can’t justify buying one for $125 when I have tried so many stunning palettes from ColourPop for $20.

Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Galaxy Eyeshadow Palette, $59

I bought this palette on the day of the launch in October, and while I love Fenty Beauty products (the lip gloss is amazing), I would only suggest buying this palette if you enjoy creating very, very sparkly eye looks. I tried using the palette to create an 80’s Halloween look for my roommate, but I ended up just covering her face in glitter (LOL). Great product, little to no use for me.
