Business casual is probably my favorite time of occasion wear, and I love a good day-to-night look. Because I don’t overly discuss my full-time career on my blog, I thought it’d be a good time to give you a little background about what I do full-time, besides blogging.
MY EDUCATION & CAREER
I graduated from college a few years ago with a degree in Information Systems & Engineering, so my primary skill set is definitely in Computer Science (yep!) and I’ve always worked in IT. After switching jobs a few times, I’m now in Digital Marketing at Tiffany & Co., helping launch all Marketing campaigns on the .COM websites globally (like our latest – HardWear!) It’s the most interesting thing to me and I’m so happy to have the opportunity to be apart of the team.
Because I work in a corporate setting, I own a lot of timeless business wear (think blazers, etc.) At first, I was very structured in the way I dressed for work; I pretty much bought out J.Crew. Now, because my industry is more understanding of current trends, I like to find pieces that I can dress up or down, like this slouchy blazer from Zara, and my favorite black heels. With versatile pieces, it’s easy to create day to night looks, for when I have to run to an event after work. I even work this blazer during this past NYFW!
My biggest tip for day to night looks are to balance structured vs. relaxed. For example, if I originally wore this blazer with black pants at work, I could either swamp out the pants at night for a fun mini skirt (ex. this post) or swap out my top for something more fun and showy. It’s an easy way to look sophisticated while still prepped for a night out.
